SENIOR PLANNING ENGINEER

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Planning Engineer to join our team for the prestigious Duqm High-Rise Building Project in the Sultanate of Oman.

The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling all project activities to ensure the successful delivery of the project within the approved time, budget, and quality objectives. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Planning Engineer will work closely with project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to drive project performance and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules and baseline programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Monitor project progress and ensure all activities are aligned with the approved project schedule and milestones.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, KPIs, and project performance analyses.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely execution of project activities.
• Identify potential delays, project risks, and critical path issues, implementing mitigation and recovery plans where required.
• Support project cost control by assisting with budgeting, forecasting, earned value analysis, and variance reporting.
• Review contractors' programmes and monitor compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules, resource plans, productivity analyses, and project forecasts.
• Monitor construction progress against planned activities and recommend corrective actions to maintain project schedules.
• Assist project management by providing accurate planning data and performance reports to support informed decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and provide planning updates to management and clients.

Required Skills

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong expertise in project planning, scheduling, and project controls.
• Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and project planning software.
• Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, resource planning, and productivity analysis.
• Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), project controls, and cost management techniques.
• Sound understanding of FIDIC and other standard construction contracts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor planning engineers and project control personnel.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in planning and controlling large-scale high-rise building or infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience working in Oman or the GCC region is highly preferred.
• Professional certification in Project Management or Planning will be considered an advantage.
